Here are the highlights from Oscars 2020

This way for the good stuff

The Oscars 2020 began with Janelle Monáe and a cadre of backup dancers dressed as an actual bouquet of flowers, encouraging heavy audience participation, hit us with a surprise Eminem performance halfway through, and ended on a high note with Parasite winning best picture.

If last year’s host-less proceedings were a breath of fresh air, this year’s show felt noticeably more disorganised. (How many musical performances does one show need? What is this, The Grammys?)

From Bong Joon-ho sweeping the show, Laura Dern and Brad Pitt winning their first acting Oscar, Scorsese almost falling asleep during Eminem’s performance, and more, we’ve got all your highlights, below.

Some Oscar winners made history:

Bong Joon-ho won his first, second, third, and fourth Oscar for Parasite
Brad Pitt won his first Oscar
And so did Laura Dern

Scorsese almost fell asleep during Eminem’s performance:

Natalie Portman wore a cape with the names of snubbed women directors:

Syrian filmmaker Waad al-Kateab took the red carpet in an Arabic inscripted dress. The passage translated: “We dared to dream, and we will not regret dignity.”

Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig proved they should host next year:

Margot Robbie turned photo-bomber when she saw Timothée Chalamet (and we relate):

Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt defined the #Bromance we’re looking for:

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost rubbed their picture-perfect relationship in our faces (not that we’re complaining):

Not just this, there was an array of deeply stunning looks from the Oscars red carpet. Take a look below:

Charlize Theron did NOT come to play.
Lilly Singh was a total bawse on the red carpet.
While Scarlett Johansson resembled the silhouette of the actual trophy.
Tom Hanks represented old school Hollywood style. And we LOVED every minute of it.
Brie Larson was nothing short of fabulous. There are no two ways about it.
Mindy Kaling kept it fresh in a mustard off-shoulder gown.
Timothee Chalet kept it functional yet fashionable.
Saoirse Ronan felt experimental.
Janelle Monáe dressed up as a literal star.
Lily Aldridge was a vision in white, with a hint of red.
