New Delhi’s Depot 29 isn’t just another eatery. It plays host to music bands and visual artists (with free entrance!), while serving up an array of contemporary American food. Helmed by Ritu Dalmia, the kitchen at this double-storeyed Safdarjung restaurant, dishes out the chef’s version of mole-marinated chicken piccata, rolled pumpkin soufflé, guacamole, burgers and waffles (with fried egg and bacon) – every dish is a twist on a classic. The décor is minimalistic, with wooden seating, black-and-white pictures and wide, glass windows.
Dalmia expressed that her love for food and entertainment is what led her to be part of the restaurant, “This combination was something I have always missed in Delhi and Depot 29 is our [partners Vikas Narula and Girjashanker Vohra] way of trying to achieve this fabulous mix.”
With gigs and visual art performances already scheduled for the opening week, Depot 29 is bound to be an excellent addition to the culinary scene in the capital.
Depot29 launches on August 2.
