Hot address: Faust

If you are planning a trip to Paris – and you should because the city just keeps getting better – Faust is the place you have to experience. You will find the restaurant hidden under the bridge Alexandre III, few metres from the Grand Palais and Champs Elysées. The location used to be an artist atelier and has now been converted into a fabulous brasserie following the aesthetic of the Belle Époque. Street lamps, white stone walls and vaulted ceilings, everything here will summon the romantic and inspiring Paris of your dreams.

The menu offers revised bistronomie classics with seasonal, organic and local ingredients. Don’t snob the caesar salad, you’d miss out on an explosion of fresh flavours and yummy aromatic chicken and do try the fried eggs served with a chorizo emulsion on a bed of fondant leeks.

If you are vegetarian, there are a couple of options on the menu and if you ask the waiter, the chef will improvise and invent a dish for you on the spot. Better still, with a little notice, the chef can plan a special vegetarian meal for groups.

A word of advice: have a sunset drink on the terrasse to admire the bridge which is no less than a classified historical monument, enjoy having the river Seine at your feet, away from the noisy traffic and then let yourself travel back in time and bliss with a dinner inside. And if you want to stay outdoors, go for the Sunday brunch served on the terrasse. The menu is mouth watering too.

Meal for two (including alcohol) costs approximately € 100. Kids menu € 14. Faust, Sous le Pont Alexandre III, 75007 Paris (near Invalides). Tel: +33 01 4418 6060. Faustparis.fr
