Hot address: O:h Cha, Mumbai

Half-formed Buddha busts, bamboo-lamp clusters, and cold grey walls partially padded with turf – new Thai restaurant Oh:Cha ticks off all your token Asian influences while making you feel just a bit…dank? The wholesome if not entirely nuanced food off the new menu takes your mind off the unsettling décor as soon as it arrives. For our money, we’d start with the crunchy fried turnip cakes, the stir-fried prawns in black pepper sauce (springy, fleshy goodness), the water chestnut and chive dumpling and risk heartburn with the vegetable Tom Yum soup. Then take it slow with the stir-fried prawns in curry powder (got to appease the Indian in you), the spicy Tom Yum rice and grilled dory wrapped in a leaf. If you still have your senses about you, you might try the polarising chestnut dumplings in coconut milk dessert – we loved and hated it in equal number.
