As part of Make In India week, FDCI presented Weaves of Benares, where 12 Indian designers presented pieces crafted from Benarasi fabrics. What also caught our attention were the muted looks created by M.A.C’s global senior artist Sonic Sarwate. He gave us two looks, to pair with Indian and Western ensembles. If the former played up the eyes, the latter focused on luminous skin. Here’s the low-down on how to achieve them:
Smokey eyes (teamed with Indian ensembles)
For the skin:
Start with using a creamy moisturiser like the M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream, which firms and protects the skin while also giving you a healthy glow. Use the M.A.C Prep + Prime Natural Radiance primer to smoothen your skin and ensure your make-up lasts long. Once your base is set, apply the M.A.C Mineralize Moisture Liquid Foundation; make sure you blend it well for optimum coverage. Use M.A.C Shadester to contour and apply M.A.C Soft and Gentle to highlight your cheekbones.
For the eyes:
Give your eyes a sheer base with the M.A.C Vintage Rose Cream Color Base on the eyelids and follow it up by M.A.C Folie eyeshadow. Try falsies for added drama – use M.A.C Lash No.7 and a generous coat of M.A.C Mineralize Mascara. Fill in your brows with the M.A.C Spiked Brow Pencil.
For the lips:
Fill your lips with the M.A.C Boldly Bare Lip Pencil.
Luminous skin (teamed with Western ensembles)
For the skin:
After cleansing your skin use the M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream as a protective layer. Use the M.A.C Prep + Prime Natural Radiance primer for a long-lasting hold on your make-up. Start your base with the M.A.C Studio Waterweight Foundation and conceal using the M.A.C Pro Corrector and Concealer Palette; Apply M.A.C Invisible Powder to set your makeup. Contour using M.A.C Shadester and apply M.A.C Gingerly for blush and M.A.C Soft and Gentle on your cheekbones to highlight.
For the eyes:
Use the M.A.C Pro-longwear Paint Pot in Constructivist on the eyelids as a base. Line your upper lash line with M.A.C Blacktrack Fluidline and use the M.A.C Feline Kohl on the lower one to enhance the look. For your eye shadow, use M.A.C Carbon and M.A.C Sketch and stick on the M.A.C Lash No.7 followed by a coat of False Lash Mascara.
For the lips:
Prep your lips with the M.A.C Lip Conditioner and fill them in using the M.A.C Spice Lip Liner.
