Everything to look forward to at India Couture Week 2020

With international fashion shows going digital in light of the pandemic, it is no surprise that fashion presentations in India would take the same route. The FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) was forced to cancel the fashion week in March this year, which was a huge setback for some of the top designers in the country. However, there were talks of it being presented virtually. The wait is finally over. India Couture Week 2020’s first-ever digital event will run from September 18 to 23, 2020.

Here’s a round-up of everything to look forward to from ICW 2020.

1. The fact that it’s digital, of course

It will be interesting to see how our Indian designers will create the same magic they usually do in the form of a short film. The shows will be streamed live on FDCI’s digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the FDCI website.

2. An impressive list of designers

You’ll finally get to see new collections from twelve design maestros. Gaurav Gupta will kickstart the event and Manish Malhotra will close it. Amit Aggarwal, Anju Modi, Dolly J, Falguni Shane Peacock, JJ Valaya, Kunal Rawal, Rahul Mishra, Reynu Taandon, Shantanu & Nikhil and Suneet Varma make the rest of the line-up.

3. New trends

The ICW 2020 couldn’t have come at a better time with the festive and bridal season just about to begin. Take inspiration and bookmark trendy silhouettes, cuts, blouse designs, jewellery and more for the upcoming season.

4. Skilled craftsmanship

Local artisans’ livelihoods have taken a major hit amid the coronavirus pandemic. The digital showcase will once again put the work of skilled artisans in the limelight. This will further help support the #VocalForLocal cause, which is the need of the hour.
