Nita Ambani’s wedding sari was woven into Isha’s bridal lehenga

After a lavish sangeet ceremony in Udaipur last weekend, Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal tied the knot in Mumbai on December 12. For the pre-wedding celebration, Isha chose a Manish Malhotra lehenga. And when it came to picking her bridal outfit, Isha went for a striking Anu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation.

The 16-panelled bespoke ghagra in dual shades of off white, featured a trail. Each panel has been hand embroidered, while Mughal jaalis and floral panels alternate in the zardozi, vasli, mukaish and nakshi work. Each flower or jaali is highlighted with crystals and sequins. The outfit also features red or vermilion in the zardozi borders, colours considered auspicious in Hindu culture.

The ensemble incorporated a piece of personal history as well. Nita Ambani’s wedding sari (panetar) was reinvented by the couturier duo and pleated with majestic zardozi borders.

The lehenga featured two dupattas: The shoulder dupatta in tulle was fully embellished in gold vasli jaali with tiny flowers, while the tulle head dupatta and a 20 metres trail were fully embroidered in a sequins and crystal jaal with intricate flowers.

The couple is expected to hold a wedding reception in Mumbai today. Stay tuned for details.
