Janhvi Kapoor’s latest look is the perfect East-meets-West outfit
For girls who like to create their own traditions
Like most of young Bollywood at the moment, Janhvi Kapoor has a yen for Indian ethnicwear. In an effort to play close to her onscreen character in Dhadak (her debut movie produced by Karan Johar and co-starring Ishaan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother), the stylish young star is often seen in effortless salwar-kameezes, or colourful anarkalis.
For her most recent outing on the promotional trail, Janhvi and her stylist Tanya Ghavri chose a floor-length embroidered dress from designer Sukriti and Aakriti, paired with a sheer dupatta bordered with colourful tassles. The figure-hugging bodice accentuates the actress’s petite frame, while the free-flowing skirt gives her an excuse for multiple Instagram boomerangs, which is never a bad thing.
To balance out the busy outfit, Ghavri kept the accessories to a minimum, allowing only for a statement ring and shoulder-dusting earrings.
The whole look is perfect for girls who love Indian sensibilities but don’t want to limit themselves to the traditional salwar-kurta or sari. Throw in a pair of Kolhapuri wedges and you’re ready for your BFF’s destination wedding in Bali.

When in doubt, go with the look that will never fail you.
Alia has recently taken to classic Indian ethnicwear, and she's tried everything from prints (Tarun Tahiliani's printed anarkali suit, Sabyasachi's floral printed kurta palazzo set) to monotone (dRzya by Ridhi's kurta salwar set and Abhinav Mishra's embellished kurta). Her constant accessory is a humble pair of earrings, with hoops being her favourite. Her choice in footwear ranges from stilettos, wedges and flats.
Where to wear: Daywear occasions like a mehendi or a sangeet ceremony.
Classic yet chic, Deepika's go-to look is a pair of jeans (wide-leg is her favourite), a T-shirt or a camisole, and a jacket. A pair of sunglasses is her usual accessory, and her footwear options include everything from pointed-toe heels to sneakers.
Where to wear: When you're travelling or for brunch dates with your girlfriends.
Over the last couple of months, Priyanka has solidified her daywear look as a dress (in floral prints and monotone shades) styled with heels and accessorised with a mini bag and small sunglasses.
Where to wear: From day occasions like lunches and meetings to evening parties.
For Sonam, her weakness is exaggerated shoulders and supersized sleeves, seen on pantsuits, gowns, shirts as well as gowns. Accessories are mostly minimal but a must — small hoops, stud earrings, chokers, drop-down earrings — and her choice in footwear is usually a pair of pointed-toe heels or flats.
Where to wear: Sundowner parties, night outs, formal occasions.
Janhvi's current favourite style statement is to wear a basic crop top (like a ribbed tee or a striped top) with high-waisted jeans and designer boots. What better way to flaunt your abs this summer?
Where to wear: Shopping sessions, movie outings and coffee dates.
