Though indie fashion brand Jaypore have had a digital presence since 2012, customers weren’t able to physically interact with their objects of desire until now. On March 21, Jaypore celebrated the opening of their first store with an intimate affair. The store’s rattan jaali facade lends New Delhi some the grandeur reminiscent of the palaces of Jaipur. Spread across 1,400 square feet and across two levels, the store takes forward the brand’s core aesthetic of bringing Indian design heritage into the now.
“Our first store is an attempt to connect with our audience at a deeper level, giving them a firsthand touch and feel experience that is not possible online.” says co-founder and CEO Puneet Chawla, who started off the opening with a walk-through of the store along with co-founder Shilpa Sharma.
Jaypore continues to be an online-first brand, with the store acting as a portal for those who wish to interact with the product. In-store tablets and digital screens will facilitate browsing for detailed information on what customers see in store besides providing options for similar items online. The digital sales assistant will also assist with style guides and tips.
“This reaffirmed our notion that offline Jaypore stores are the way ahead for us. Starting with New Delhi, right where our online journey started, our offline chapter has only just begun.” Chawla said in reference to the store’s first venture offline, an open house last August. From season-appropriate contemporary apparel capsules to one-of-a-kind craft collectibles, vintage silver jewellery and folk accessories, it’s safe to say Jaypore’s first store is aimed to please all fashion and design lovers.
