Joan Smalls – one of our favourite new supers – introduced her lipstick line for Estée Lauder. The Puerto Rican model has launched 12 matte shades under the Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick range. It ticks all the right boxes: there’s a Covetous Nude for work, a fiery Volatile red for when you want to dress up, a bold purple called Shameless Violet for Fridays.
It all started with the Met Gala in 2014, to which Smalls wore a punchy violet-blue lip – a colour she arrived at by mixing pigments. She got an incredible response. The endless stream of Insta tags led to this collaboration with Estée Lauder.
“I’ve always liked how the colours in the Pure Color lipstick line read on first swipe, without having to apply layer upon layer — which is a problem I often have, especially with my skin tone — so I asked, ‘Can we do this formula, but make it more matte?'” Smalls told Estée Edit. And the results are stunning!
