It looks like disgraced designer John Galliano might be getting a second shot at success. After becoming something of a pariah in fashion circles for his anti-Semitic rant in 2011, Galliano has now been invited by Russia’s largest cosmetics chain L’Etoile to take over as Creative Director of the brand. As of May 22, Galliano will be creating make-up and accessories for L’Etoile’s signature cosmetics collection, L’Etoile Selection, and will also oversee the brand’s image.
After Dior’s former creative director was asked to leave the French fashion house following his unsavoury outburst, he took up temporary residency at Oscar de la Renta in 2013. This time though, he’s playing for keeps; L’Etoile made the grand announcement amid much fanfare, as Galliano emerged from a starry screen and strutted down a smoke-laced ramp.
