Aamir Khan threw the mother of all Diwali bashes last night, and as everyone in Bollywood knows, when Aamir asks, you never refuse. Which explains why everybody from Karan Johar and Sidharth Malhotra to Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Parineeti Chopra made their way to the superstar’s house in Mumbai’s tony Pali neighbourhood.
While everyone else was gawking at the sheer star power that crowded into the entrance to Aamir’s home, we couldn’t help but notice how the leading ladies of Bollywood pulled out the best designer couture in their wardrobes (or that their talented stylists could get their hands on), giving us festive inspiration for days. And since the wedding season is just around the corner, we suggest you pay attention.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was in proper begum mode, wearing a champagne and gold Tarun Tahiliani couture sharara from the designer’s archives, complete with jewellery from Shri Hari Diagems. Jacqueline Fernandez could have stopped traffic in Pakistani designer Faraz Manan’s red halter-neck sari with heavy jewellery from Satyani Fine Jewels and Anmol Jewellers. Parineeti Chopra went modern day metallic in Payal Singhal, paired with shoulder dusters from Amrapali jewels. And looking resplendent in Anamika Khanna couture was Deepika Padukone, her slicked back bun showing off those ruby shoulder-grazing chandelier earrings from Farah Khan Fine Jewellery.
