Kareena Kapoor Khan just broke a major fashion rule and we’re not sure how to feel about this
But she looks pretty damn comfy
Have you noticed how Kareena Kapoor Khan is slowly incorporating sneakers into every aspect of her summer wardrobe? While on a lunch date with Karisma Kapoor and sisters Sonam and Rhea Kapoor in London a few weeks ago, the Veere Di Wedding actor sported a pair teamed with a T-shirt and trousers, layered with a silver jacket.
And now, for her sister’s birthday bash in the Queen’s city, Kareena took to the comfortable style again, this time pairing her floral printed maxi dress with Chloé’s Sonnie Low Top sneakers and a Chloé Roy clutch. Also in attendance were Sonam Kapoor and Natasha Poonawalla and it’s worth mentioning that all four had coordinated their looks to ensure they wore dainty printed dresses and oversized sunglasses.
The choice of footwear, however, was left out of the memo.
While Karisma and Sonam were twinning in their pointed-toe nude shoes, Natasha opted for a glamorous golden sequinned pair of heels, and Kareena decided to stay comfortable in her luxe sneakers. Now we’ve seen sneakers being paired with dresses for a while, but most fashion insiders will insist you show off a little leg between the hem of your dress and the sneaker to break up the clunky effect. It’s a hard look to pull off without looking like the stereotypical “aunty out for a morning walk”, but Kareena seems willing to take the chance. And that fierce pout proves she really DGAF what the critics think.
Could this be the influence of super stylist Rhea Kapoor, known for her innovative pairings, including wearing sneakers with a lehenga-choli set at Sonam’s wedding? We’re not sure anyone can pull it off, but if you want the same look, the Chloé Sonnie Low Top sneaker will only set you back by Rs 43,000.
Inside Kareena Kapoor Khan’s enviable bag closet
A regular staple in Kareena’s airport wardrobe, the Givenchy Nightingale is one for the ages. This classic tan number can be yours to have and to hold for Rs 1.2 lakh at Barneys.
No one can argue with the virtues of investing in a good navy tote, so we’re sure her financial advisor approved this Balenciaga Papier tote for Rs 1.7 lakh. (You can get your hands on it at Neiman Marcus.)
Kareena and her Chanel Black Quilted Caviar Maxi bag go way back to even before Saif was in the picture. The chance to flaunt this little crossbody baby will cost you Rs 3.2 lakh precisely. (Get yours here.)
The ultimate status symbol, Kareena and her loyal Hèrmes Birkin (Rs 12.6 lakh) have seen the world together. Best friend material? We certainly think so.
Because well, what’s a luxury bag closet without a Gucci tote occupying pride of place under a little shimmer of stars? This Gucci Supreme model (Rs 76,000) is versatile and trend-proof, just like its owner.
