Have you ever been told “You can’t do this because you’re a woman?”
Even though she lives a privileged life, Kareena Kapoor Khan hasn’t scraped the limits that people still place on women.
For AND’s Autumn Winter ’17 collection #IAMAND, the brand ambassador speaks up about how she was held back by people who insisted she couldn’t be an actor and a mother. The video has an empowering message for every woman out there—Don’t allow yourself to be put into a box. Listen to yourself and follow your passion.
The video also features four multi-faceted women who juggle multiple careers: Tania Sachdev, a grandmaster and a commentator; Anushka Menon, a photographer and a DJ, Kanchan Daniel, a musician and a psychologist; and Pranita Balar, a media planner and a canine consultant, all come from a background where they faced opposition and overcame it—simply by not letting anyone stereotype them.
“I wanted these stories to inspire other women from smaller cities who have ideas and aspirations in their head, but don’t have the support to follow their dreams,” says Anita Dongre, Chief Creative Officer of AND.
“Through this video, we have tried to highlight women from different career paths who have turned their passion into their profession and succeeded at it. If they can do it, so can you,” she says.
The video is the first of the #IAMAND series which aims to feature real women with inspirational stories on a monthly basis.
