Karl Lagerfeld directs Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams

Karl Lagerfeld has teased a short film, called Reincarnation, destined for Internet glory. It stars supermodel-and-Instagram phenom Cara Delevingne, viral video generator Pharrell Williams and legendary actor Geraldine Chaplin – daughter of Charlie Chaplin.

The film will be screened next week in Salzburg, on December 1, the night before the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art show (and will also accompany the show).

It imagines an episode in the life of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel (played by Chaplin): It’s 1954, and Chanel is seen holidaying in the suburbs of Salzburg. At her hotel she meets a young lift boy (played by Pharrell) whose jacket would later inspire the iconic Chanel jacket. And it’s all set to the song ‘CC The World’, composed by Pharell, of course, with Delevingne chiming in on vocals.

“It was time to show the origins of the Chanel jacket, inspired by the one worn by the lift attendant in a hotel near Salzburg in the 1950s… Reincarnation is the story of a lift attendant’s jacket being reincarnated as a timeless piece of women’s wear,” says Lagerfeld.

It has Chaplin stepping into the shoes of Chanel once again. This time last year she starred in Lagerfeld’s The Return, remember? Watch her pitch-perfect performance for some serious goosebumps:
