Karl Lagerfeld, now a limited edition Barbie

Karl Lagerfeld is now a doll, courtesy Mattel. But, if you’re expecting a Ken-like version, think again - the German designer will be reproduced as a limited edition Barbie.

The initial sketches reveal a doll with the designer’s signature white ponytail, immaculately-tailored jacket, skinny trousers, black fingerless gloves and of course, his oversized sunglasses. They’ve nailed Kaiser Karl to a T – barring one very important detail; his ever-faithful fluffy companion! We’re more than a little sad to see that the doll won’t be toting a Choupette Lagerfeld replica.

This isn’t the first time that his likeness has been duplicated – Fendi made an uncle Karl handbag charm and tokidoki created a Japanese cartoon figurine. The doll is expected to hit stores by the fall, and this is one wait-list that promises to be very, very long.
