Kendall Jenner shut down comments about her acne like a boss

Kendall Jenner looked stunning last night at the Golden Globes—rocking major bedhead and glossy nude lips—but that didn’t stop some commenters from calling attention to her skin. With a few visible acne marks, some fans were shocked to see Jenner looking less-than-perfect. One fan Tweeted, “Ok but @Kendall Jenner showing up and strutting her acne while looking like a gorgeous star is what every girl needs to understand.” To which the model replied, “Never let that shit stop you!”

This isn’t the first time Jenner has publicly addressed her struggle with acne. “I had such bad acne when I was younger. It completely ruined my self-esteem–I wouldn’t even look at people when I talked to them. I felt like such an outcast; when I spoke, it was with my hand covering my face,” Jenner wrote a few years ago on her now-defunct blog. “Even after things started to clear up, it took a solid amount of time to be okay with my skin and gain back my confidence. I realized that it’s a part of life for some people and it doesn’t define who you are.”

Jenner joins a handful of other celebrities who have opened up to fans about the difficulties of acne and the unrealistic expectation of flawless skin. The singer Lorde has Tweeted side-by-side photos of her Photoshopped skin, adding: “remember flaws are ok :-)”.

Back in 2016, actress Bella Thorne shared a makeup-free photo of her skin. “Personally, I struggled with acne for a long time. I used to cry every night because I thought I looked so ugly,” Thorne captioned the image. “I used to read comments about my face, my skin, my nose, my eyes, and even my beauty marks people didn’t approve of. Putting makeup over acne makes it so much worse.”
