The girl-next-door with a happy smile, Kiara Advani, has one too many tricks up her sleeve. Whether it’s her fitness tips or her homemade beauty hacks, the Fugly actor has got our interest piqued. We caught up with the star at Manish Malhotra’s festive show where she talked about fashion, food, fitness and everything in between.

ELLE: Do you have any homemade beauty hacks?

Kiara Advani (KA): My mum has been making me apply this paste since I was a child — it’s a mixture of besan, milk, honey and lemon. Apply it on your face for a radiant glow. Even applying tomato pulp or papaya on your face can give you that instant glow. Or, go for a twenty-minute run instead.

ELLE: What does eating healthy mean to you?

KA: I keep it as natural as possible, and focus on having vegetables, fruits, protein-rich meals and superfoods like avocado. I avoid salt, sugar fried and buttery foods. I have one tablespoon of oil in my food, and that’s my oil intake for the day. The mantra is to work out, eat right, drink a lot of water and stay active.

ELLE: Do you have a cheat day?

KA: Of course — I think it’s very important to cheat so that your body gets shocked. I indulge in everything from pizzas to dessert, sans guilt. That’s the most important part — not to feel guilty if you’re cheating on your diet.

ELLE: Your fitness regimen is?

KA: I go to the gym and I like to mix it up with high intensity training. I’ve just started enjoyed weights. I like dancing, swimming and kick-boxing — the key is to keep it interesting so you never get bored of your routine. I believe 70% is your diet and 30% is the exercise you do. I know the process of going to the gym is tedious, but once you’re done with it, it lifts your mood and makes you happy. Get one hour of physical activity in a day, you’d be such a happier person.

KA: Rekha ji. She’s ethereal and classic. When I’m older, I’d like to have that vibe.
