Mumbai-based brand whiz and co-founder of Peepul PR Srimoyi Bhattacharya, and designer Megan Ryley have teamed up to create The Orient Line, a brand of loungewear for those in-between hours – after work and before you hit the sack. Or a lazy weekend even. Feel-good clothes that are as comfortable as your much-worn old T-shirt, but way prettier.
The brand has been named after an 18th century British shipping company that followed the Orient route. It ties in neatly with Bhattacharya and Ryley’s nomadic past – as a communications expert the former has spent time in Paris, New York and Mumbai, while Ryley too has lived and worked across Asia, Europe and North America (with labels as diverse as Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Hererra, Jenny Packham, Versace, Erdem, among others).
The line has comfortable camisole tops, summer dresses, loose trousers and shorts you can live in. They’ve employed easy fabrics such as khadi silks, linen and cotton in a muted palette.
Prices are upwards of Rs 4,000. Theorientline.com
