Nudes reinvented

By Trisha Chawla  February 5th, 2018

You can always expect something new from the Lakme Fashion Week beauty trends, and at this Summer Resort ’18 season, nude make-up reigned supreme. Sure, you’d spot a set of radiant, fresh faces and nude lips on the runway, but it’s the powerful, statement-making spin-offs by Lakme make-up experts, Daniel Bauer and Donald Simrock, that we really loved. Dollops of mascara were paired with glittery underliner at Tarun Tahiliani, eyeshadow was traded in for shiny gloss at Nishka Lulla and monotone make-up took centrestage at Saaksha and Kinni.

At Usha Sillai, Huda Beauty’s tape contouring trick got the runway upgrade as threads were used to create horizontal contour lines and razor sharp cheekbones. For hair, we saw braids all over — tucked back into a sleek ponytail, left loose around the hairline and popped into a single, old-school version. If you want to know what trends you’ll be wearing this summer, scroll ahead for the complete lowdown:

Bronze eyeshadow was topped with a wash of pink to create this rosy, radiant look. Simrock then finished the look with a gold highlight on the inner corner of the eyes.

Smudged, maroon lips matched the burgundy kohl-rimmed eyes, and a flush of pink added colour to the cheeks.

Make-up artist Daniel Bauer kept the base soft but blended with a hydrating foundation. The highlight of the look was the graphic, horizontal contour line and graphic lips.

The smoky eye goes down the graphic route with this imperfect, sooty version, created using black chalk. The lashes were then coated with a liberal hand of mascara and the brows were left feathered.

The underline was the real star here as Lakme makeup expert, Donald Simrock worked with different colours to make things interesting. “It’s meant to be regal but 1700s regal,” says Simrock. “You can recreate this with Lakmé Eyeconic white eyeliner and almost any red lipstick.”

Gloss is everywhere. Take it from Simrock who used it on the skin, lips and lids all at once.
