In the early hours of this morning, Louis Vuitton presented its 2019 Cruise collection, amidst the picturesque hilltops of a village in the south of France. Talking to WWD, Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière explained that this season he wanted to bring the feeling of “eccentricity” to the runway.
“This cruise show is about eccentricity for me. It’s about how an individual can have their own proper style and can start a movement. I love this idea of someone eccentric that mixes things in her own way,” he told the publication.
And Ghesquière certainly achieved this vision, as today’s cruise collection had eccentricity in spades, particularly when it came to the accessories.
From quirky cat-shaped clutches — created in collaboration with Grace Coddington — to oversized wrap around sunglasses, LV’s latest collection features accessories that were made to stand out.
Although Ghesquière debuted a few brand new accessories on the runway, the designer also opted to update some existing Vuitton classics. The Petite Malle handbag was reimagined with the addition of tassel embellished crossbody straps, while the brand’s unique Square Bag was presented with new checkerboard detailing.
Here are the best (and most attention-grabbing) accessories from Louis Vuitton’s 2019 Cruise collection:
