We’ve had KOY on our radar since it launched in 2017, and its enigmatic founder Kunaal Khyaan Seolekar (also the genius behind design outfit studioHAUS) went on to win the EDIDA Young Talent prize at our sister brand ELLE DÉCOR’s International Design Awards, India. Now, he has just completed his latest project: furnishing the luxury serviced apartments, The Residences, spanning 80,000 square feet on the outskirts of Pune.

The suites are done entirely by KOY, and feature an elemental collection of handcrafted furniture and accessories in marble, passivated metal and natural wood. Key pieces include KOY’s Popcorn arm chairs and Bamboo sofas, as well as the sculptural marble tables that won Seolekarthe EDIDA award. “It pays homage to Indian materiality and modern living, with a strong focus on contemporary design,” he says. Some apartments combine natural woods, iridescent metals and earthy marbles for a warm tone, while others feature graphic monochrome stones with blackened steel, and cast fibre and resin pieces. Next, Seolekar has his hands full with a collaborative furniture collection that’s out later this month. Stay tuned.
