The first thing you notice about Malini Ramani is her preternatural glow. It’s like the designer has her own Hollywood special effects team following her around, tweaking the backlight and adding a soft focus so that you’re always wondering how she looks so fresh and dewy despite Delhi’s punishing summer.
A percentage of that healthy glow she attributes to oil pulling with extra-virgin coconut oil, a detoxification habit she shares with other ageless beauties like Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr. “It’s the first thing I do every morning, as soon as I wake up,” Malini reveals, as she shows us around her new apartment — a cornucopia of lotus motifs, tropical prints and good vibes. “It helps to remove all the toxins from the body and leaves you feeling fresh.”
Legendary in Delhi’s party circles, the 47-year-old designer is now one of the city’s best ambassadors for holistic living. She’s a certified kundalini yoga teacher, having turned one room of her new home into a yoga studio. She’s also the proud owner of a Nutriblaster — so you know she isn’t bluffing.
“I try to take care of myself now, I do vitamin infusions, the yoga helps a lot. But I do like to enjoy my life,” Malini insists. “I smoke the occasional cigarette, I like to drink my wine. It’s all about balance.”
