Masaba took a complete U-turn this season with her Madagascar collection at Lakmé Fashion Week which introduced bridalwear and occasionwear. Corset saris, lehenga cholis, short dresses, maxi gowns, dhoti pants and long jackets set the tone for the modern day bride and her entourage. Ditching the heavy embroideries that traditional lehengas are bedecked with, Masaba chose lightweight fabrics that allowed ease and comfort to the wearer.
The collection stayed true to its DNA through its selection of bright, pop colours and quirky prints. Colour blocking was noticed across the collection, with dark green meshed with fuschia, yellow with black, pink with mauve. Bum bags were casually thrown over the bridal ensembles, which added a fun, modern twist. All in all, this collection will work for the younger generation who’d like to experiment with their wedding day outfits.
