For the uninitiated, The Coalition is a platform that brings together creative minds from various platforms with the goal of sharing experiences, and encouraging entrepreneurship. It’s really for anyone looking to develop an idea, or trying to find alternative careers within a creative industry.
In its third edition, the three-day event covers a wide spectrum of topics and streams: fashion, content creation, comedy, music, publishing, journalism, gaming, art and photography, design, food and beverage. In fact, ELLE in association with Border & Fall has co-curated sessions too.
On day one, catch Mark Luburic (co-founder of Anima Creative Management), make up artist Elton Fernandez and photographer R Burman discuss alternative careers in fashion with ELLE’s fashion editor, Nidhi Jacob.
Malika V Kashyap, founder of Border & Fall, moderates a session on what it takes to break the clutter, and build a definitive voice in fashion. She’ll be in conversation with Vandana Verma (former editor of Motherland and current head of content at fashion and lifestyle brand Nicobar), Deep Kailey (former Fashion Director of Tatler), and ELLE’s deputy editor Cheryl-Ann Couto.
Also on day one, wrap your head around independent publishing. Catch Richard Nash, of the new media app Byliner. (PS: He’s also received Association of American Publishers’ Award for Creativity in Independent Publishing in 2005, so you’ll want to pick his brain if you’re sitting on a masterpiece.)
Don’t miss chef Garima Arora, who takes you into the kitchens of the world’s best restaurants. She’s cut her teeth working at Noma (Denmark), which consistently ranks among the top three restaurants in the world. She’s currently working at Gaggan, Bangkok, which has secured the #1 spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list for two years in a row.
On day two, comedy collective All India Bakchod talks to actors, directors and producers discuss what it takes to make it in Bollywood. Anurag Kashyap, Richa Chadha and Neil Bhoopalam promise to share secrets.
On day three, you don’t want to miss Anjula Acharia-Bath in conversation with Vijay Nair, founder and CEO of Only Much Louder. Acharia-Bath is largely responsible for Priyanka Chopra’s stratospheric rise in Hollywood.
Plus, Guneet Monga, producer and all-round indie champion at Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt Ltd, and Vivek Gomber of Court fame (and others) break down what it takes to take an independent movie from inception to release.
