Meghan Markle Has Our Attention With Her Street Style In New York

For the first time following the birth of their daughter Lilibet, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally made their joint public appearance in New York. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent three days in the city meeting Mayor Bill de Blasio, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, public health leader Chelsea Clinton; reading to school children in Harlem, and encouraging global world leaders on vaccine equity at the Global Citizen Festival 2021.

It’s been a while since the couple returned to the spotlight, but when it came to their sartorial choices for the NYC tour, you certainly couldn’t ignore it. While Harry donned dapper suits throughout, Meghan understood the brief and knew exactly what to wear. Sticking to what she does best, the Duchess aced monochrome and colour-coordinated looks. The highlight of her ensembles was her choice of footwear. Ditching her favourite flats, Meghan opted for pointy stilettos, making it clear she means business.

Here’s a detailed look at all the outfits Meghan Markle wore on the streets of NYC giving her fans some much-need style inspo. Ready to take notes?

Look #1

Meghan and Harry were caught twinning on their visit to One World Observatory. The Duchess grabbed eyeballs in a head-to-toe navy ensemble–Giorgio Armani coat, turtleneck and trousers, and suede heels from Aquazzura. Attending a business meeting that requires you to make an impression? Take a leaf out of Meghan’s stylebook.

On her visit to meet the UN Ambassador, she wore a similar outfit, but replaced her trousers with a Roland Mouret pencil skirt and paired it with a black turtleneck from The Row. Completing her look were a beige Max Mara trench (her go-to outerwear), which she matched with her Valextra handbag; black Armani heels and tortoiseshell Valentino sunglasses.

Look #3

Keeping it relaxed, yet chic, Meghan Markle opted for another monochrome look while attending a school in Harlem where she read her children’s book, The Bench to second graders. Her all-red outfit included a Loro Piana cashmere coat layered over a matching top and trousers, and red pumps.

Look #4

Wondering how to pull off tone-on-tone? Let Meghan show you how. During her meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Meghan teamed her Max Mara coat with a light brown shirt and pants from the label, with the Manolo Blahnik heels we last saw in her 40th birthday video. Ten points to you if you guessed it before you even read this.

Look #5

Keeping the best for the last, Meghan kept it minimal yet impactful as she walked on stage with Harry for the Global Citizen Fest. She chose a white embellished Valentino dress and teamed it with black pumps. But on her way out, she made some noteworthy additions–a black trench coat, and the unmissable Dior’s Lady D-Lite bag, named after one of the go-to handbags of Princess Diana. This was Meghan’s way of paying homage to her late mother-in-law.
