Model Tuhir Brahmbhatt on the advice Virgil Abloh gave him right before his big debut at Louis Vuitton

Things got pretty emotional at the end of the Louis Vuitton Show at Paris Fashion Week with Virgil Abloh having his “first-ever” moment. But Abloh wasn’t the only one having an overwhelming day – the landmark menswear show was also the perfect international debut for Indian model Tuhir Brahmbhatt (@i_tuhir). “I was in London and when I went to my agency, I overhead my managers telling some clients over the phone, ‘I’m sorry, Tuhir won’t be available tomorrow.’ That’s when I was told that Louis Vuitton had booked me exclusively to debut at their show in Paris,” Tuhir recalls in shock. “It took a little long for me to believe what I had just heard.”

In keeping with his reputation as a personable and approachable designer, Tuhir reveals that Virgil Abloh walked up to him before the show to calm his nerves. “He’s very grounded and chilled out, There were so many models at the show, but he recognised me at the fittings and said ‘You’re the exclusive debut guy, right?’ He told me it was his first time too, and that it’s ok to be nervous. We even fist-bumped.”

Describing the moment he heard his name being called by the show runner as “larger than life”, Tuhir does admit he had a fan boy moment with a major star… but not Kanye West. “The whole experience was so grand, it would be unfair if I said there was only one moment. After the show, I realised there were many big celebrities there to watch the show. Later in the finale, I saw people standing and clapping for all, and I caught a glimpse of Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther. Damn!”
