Time to bring out that credit card
We’re halfway through 2018, and if you’re like us, you would have worn all your favourite clothes a minimum of ten times. Despite there being no space in our wardrobe, our instinct is telling us that the launch of these new fashion stores is no coincidence. It’s time to pack away those old garments you don’t need anymore and replace them with brand new collectables that will merrily sail you through the remainder of the year. Whether it’s wedding wear, fusion wear or contemporary wear you’re searching for, there’s a solution for all.
Delhities can rejoice, for designer Masaba Gupta has finally claimed space for bold and eclectic designs right in the heart of the capital. Meanwhile, fashion-forward brand Madame has opened its 25th store in Dwarka. For those of you who love saris, check out Ashdeen’s Parsi hand-embroidered saris at his new store in Delhi.

Months after having opened her store (complete with a cafe) in Hyderabad, Masaba Gupta has taken over the capital with her 800 square foot store in South Delhi, complete with a bridal atelier. The bare cream and white walls blend in with the wooden flooring, with statement pieces — a three-door mirror, a geometrical table, tribal masks, exquisite chandeliers, antique fans — and prints breaking up the minimalism. Meanwhile, her signature cow motifs make their presence felt via the walls where they symmetrically sit. The designer will soon be launching a menswear line, which shall be exclusively retailed from this store itself.

Sulakshana Monga's first-ever flagship store in Mumbai celebrates her vision of Indian luxury and its rich heritage. With walls painted in dainty hues of pastel peach and the flooring in golden, the store is akin to a Rajasthani haveli featuring a high roof, a royal staircase, alcoves and rustic furniture that adds a classic touch. Drop by the store for their collection of contemporary silk and tulle lehenga cholis in shades of ecru, ivory and more.

Pernia Qureshi has finally launched her first-ever brick and mortar store in Mumbai's Juhu area. The flagship store is spread across 1500 square feet, and features an interesting mix of Indian designers both veteran and young. The store's muted beige walls and floor make sure all the attention is on the vibrant clothes. The one rack that will catch your eye is The Pink Shelf, where Pernia picks out her favourite pieces of the month. Sneakerheads, it's time to rejoice — India's first-ever multi-brand sneaker boutique is now in Mumbai. Co-founded by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's husband Anand Ahuja and Abhineet Singh, the store houses selected sneakers from Nike, Adidas Originals, Air Jordan, Puma, Vans, Reebok Classics, New Balance and Fila. What's more, the store is also home to Anand's contemporary fashion brand, Bhane. The interiors take after Bhane's modern approach to Indian craftsmanship, and also serves as a space for art, fashion and sneaker enthusiasts to exchange ideas over a cup of coffee from Blue Tokai, desserts from Le15 and healthy smoothie bowls.

Ashdeen is known for his Parsi hand-embroidered saris and blouses that take inspiration from age-old oriental crafts, and his new store in Delhi also resonates the same. From hand-painted chinoiserie patterns woven around his signature crane motif to hand-painted cranes adorning the walls, the entire space is a true reflection of his aesthetics.
Bansri Mehta's modern designs have garnered quite a lot of attention among celebrities — with the likes of Shilpa Shetty and Malaika Arora wearing them — and the designer has now launched her flagship store Bansri in Mumbai's Kala Ghoda. Divided into four zones, each zone takes after four crucial elements that form the basis of her design aesthetic, namely, the black zone, the gold zone, the white zone and the ocean/sky zone. A concrete runway holds the four zones together, with tall mirrors adding a chic vibe.
