History gets a modern makeover at the newly-renovated Hotel Café Royal

Hotel Café Royal, part of the European hotel group The Leading Hotels of the World, was London’s finest restaurant and bar. It quickly became the epicentre of London’s fashionable set in the 19th century; its lounge and bar were frequented by celebrities like Liz Taylor, Mick Jagger and writers like Oscar Wilde and Virginia Woolf.

In its recent reincarnation as the luxurious Hotel Café Royal, it remains an established favourite located right in the heart of London—Regent Street—with elegant Mayfair to the west and creative Soho to the East. The hotel is perfectly positioned within walking distance of London’s finest shopping streets, tourist attractions and Theatreland.

It’s sweeping, collonaded Nash terrace was still relatively novel and continues to be a signature feature in central London. Within the hotel, grand historic areas have been sensitively restored and 160 guestrooms and suites (including seven signature suites) have been created in a contemporary yet refined style. From the rich classical gilding of the grand Empire Suite to the original 16th Century wooden panels, beams and fireplace in the intimate rooms of the Tudor Suite, each has been created with unique aesthetic and character.

A social hotel, it houses three bars and the signature Cakes & Bubbles café where the delicately-made renowned Tickets cheesecake is made from hazelnut and complete with a non-traditional rind of white chocolate, which offers customers a taste from one of the most sought-after places in the restaurant world.

The hotel also has a spa that’s rated the best in London with a special bone-setting therapy, which realigns the physical body, with a short session of just 20 minutes where the expert therapists create physical waves in the body to loosen and relieve stress. Finally, you can also devour some delicious cocktails at Ziggy’s, a tribute to David Bowie, and one of my favourite spots in the hotel.
