The London Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2022 presentations have officially wrapped up. The most radical of the ‘Big Four’, the beauty briefs for hair and makeup are rarely minimal. MUAs working backstage at LFW enjoy creative freedom and do not shy away from adding flamboyance and pizzazz to their work. This season was no different; from big structural braids that need technical excellence to makeup looks untethered from any rules or ideas of being “proper”– here’s a roundup of our favourite moments.
1. Halpern Studio’s Tassle Ponytails

Halpern Studio presented their collection via a film featuring ballet dancers swaying to a disco track. The tasselled ponytails in bright greens, blues and tangerine hues matched the fluidity of the garments perfectly.
2. Paul Costelloe’s Diamante Eyes

A burst of cyan blue was paired with glittery diamante on the eyes for Paul Costelloe’s show. We love the faux fringe effect as well.
3. Mithridate’s Freckled Mugs

Mithridate took the trend of wearing unfiltered freckles to the next level. The models wore glitter specks anywhere and everywhere on their faces to match the show’s ‘forest fairy’ theme.
4. Simone Rocha’s Temp Tattoos

Who needs accessories when you have cute dinosaurs and baby angels on to beautify your look. Simone Rocha’s temp tattooing is nostalgic of simpler times and oh-so-adorable!
5. Erdem’s 60-Inch Braids

Fashion’s new season in the post-quarantine era belongs to long hair, and Erdem’s 60-inch braids at the London Fashion Week are proof of that.
6. Yuhan Wang’s Nostalgic Hairdos

Yuhan Wang’s models look like they can be a part of an old photograph from the 60s when unkempt finger waves were the way women did their hair.
7. Marrknull’s Pool Hair

Marrknull’s runway show was by a massive swimming pool, and the wet hair and glossy makeup fitted in perfectly.
8. Supriya Lele’s Chocolate Glossy Lips

Lele’s show featured glossy chocolate lips, yum! It is one of the most alluring lip trends we’ve seen in a while.
9. Nensi Dojaka’s Spiky Buns

Spiky topknots may not just be Bella Hadid’s fave hairdo; the people over at Nensi Dojaka love them as well. We fully welcome this Y2K hair trend taking over the London Fashion Week runways.
10. Regina Pyo’s Rope Twist Pigtails

Rope twist braids may pull on your hair a little bit, but who’s to complain when they look so chic. The pigtails look so cute with the sheer neon ensembles, just the right amount of edgy that is also wearable.
