The concept of swiping right for love isn’t new, but Tinder India just gave it a whole new meaning. In partnership with animal rescue and shelter foundations across India, the popular dating app now allows you to swipe to find your four-legged soulmate, or your #PawfectMatch. Motivating its users to adopt and not shop, rescue agencies such as Friendicoes SECA, World For All Animal Care and Adoptions, RESQ, Charpaws Foundation, Karma Foundation, and Red Paws Rescue, have joined forces with Tinder for this paw-some cause.
Did you know that in India, only 1 in 12 abandoned pets find a home? Friendicoes SECA in Delhi found that approximately 600 pets a year are abandoned, out of which only 100-150 find forever homes, while World For All in Mumbai estimated about 500 abandoned or surrendered pets, out of which only 300 are adopted. That’s a whole lot of furballs that are left homeless and orphaned. A helping hand, this Tinder India initiative is a way to motivate its users to drive up registrations for these pet-rescue and shelter foundations.

How to find the #PawfectMatch?
Finding your puppy love doesn’t get easier than this! Just like you’d swipe on your human profile, users nationwide will be able to swipe on pet profiles too. Unlike the human matchmaking algorithm, you won’t have to wait for the other half to swipe on you too, but instead you will be redirected to a form that’ll help you choose your preference—whether you’d want to adopt, foster, donate, or volunteer.
So get swiping and adopting—this is a forever kind of love.
