A tribute to Prabuddha Dasgupta

Bikramjit Bose

"Being who you want to be and all that might entail, without the fear of being judged, is freedom. The idea of gender neutrality and androgyny with its various visual and outward manifestations has always piqued my interest. It lends itself well to the kind of imagery that interests me."

Prarthna Singh

"My truth is best expressed in my art, and in truth, lies freedom. To feel free, I must be unafraid of doing things differently. I go out into the world, as a woman and a photographer, to tell stories I believe in. It is in these stories of strength, empowerment and resistance that lies the foundation of my work. I feel free when I embody the spirit of every woman I have encountered, every woman who has given me a glimpse of her truth by allowing me to photograph her."

"If we are genuinely interested in creating something new, our identities should be the least of our concerns. If we choose to favour our identity over our imagination, we imprison our creativity. There is freedom in being a nobody."
