When it comes to jazz music, only a handful of venues across the country can be credited with keeping the genre alive. One of them is The Piano Man Jazz Club in the capital, which has given the indie scene a much-needed boost. In the last three years, it has brought down a number of international acts — think Malika Tirolien from France, Tam de Villiers from England and Yuichiro Tokuda from Japan. Now, on the eve of their third anniversary, it has an exciting mid-week treat for jazz lovers coming up.
Keeping in line with curating extraordinary live experiences, the anniversary gigs (September 18 – 20) will feature Sin(gers) City, The Bodhisattwa Trio (an experimental jazz fusion/avant garde outfit from Kolkata) and Sava Boyadzhiev Trio (Sava is a Bulgarian drummer with a 20-year-long career). Celebratory shots, popcorn and petit-fours every hour will keep the party mood going. The extravaganza will also offer you the opportunity to preview their delicious signature cocktails at Rs 300.
At The Piano Man Jazz Club (founded by Arjun Sagar Gupta), it’s not just about the music. The Prohibition-era inspired decor takes you back in time and adds to the whole vibe. So go ahead and book those tickets for a musical treat.
