This season, pleated skirts have been seen on the hottest It girls – including Rachel Bilson, Taylor Swift and Alexa Chung – and we’re crushing hard on this exquisitely feminine style.
While Issey Miyake popularised pleats back in 1993, it was in 2014 that our favourite designers made a strong argument for pleated skirts in their spring/summer collections. Zimmermann went all-out girly with bows and pastel colours, and Lanvin upped the glamour on its skirts with a metallic sheen. Christopher Kane played peekaboo with opalescent fabrics, while Alexander Wang’s pleated miniskirts won over New York runways.
Take a cue from these labels, and make space in your wardrobe for this flowy silhouette. We show you how to wear the pleated skirt for brunch or to make it Monday meeting-ready.
