For her latest collection, Anita Dongre turns her attention towards the modern bride. Part of her Jaipur Bride series, the recent line, India Modern, will use “traditional Indian techniques and fabrics like bandhini, leheriya, gota patti, zardozi and dori, interpreted in contemporary styles,” says Dongre. Think fitted crop tops paired with lehengas, tailored jackets matched with slim embroidered pants and hand-embroidered gowns. Expect to see outfits in jewel tones, like peacock blue, coral and red, as well as neutrals.
Commenting on the woman who she aims to dress with this line, Dongre says, “She seeks a blend of fantasy and functionality in her ensembles, with a hint of traditionalism.”
Dongre will showcase her line at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 on August 22 at Palladium Hotel.
