For his first show at Lakmé Fashion Week, Delhi designer, Rajesh Pratap Singh is going in with all bells ringing. Closing the week-long fashion affair, the designer will have Kareena Kapoor – the face of Lakmé Absolute walk his show. Known for his clean silhouettes, Pratap will showcase both menswear and womenswear on the ramp inspired by Lakmé’s latest range of make-up. “The collection is about illusions and it is all about using metallic fabrics and shades of make-up. We are working with metallic colors and some new interesting textile experiments with metal,” he says.
The coming together of the make-up brand and the designer has been coincidental he mentions. “While Lakmé was experimenting with metallic colors we were dabbling with metallic yarns to develop shapes and somehow it all fits in the design aesthetic,” Pratap explains.
Expect to see silhouettes that are both structured and draped blend together in pastels hues and metallic black. Although the designer confesses he has seen only one Lakmé Fashion Week finale show, about his upcoming show, he lets in that his first association with the brand, he expects it to be “an exciting experience.”
Rajesh Pratap Singh will be showcasing his collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 on 16th March.
