Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection for BMW India Bridal Week is inspired by mahals – their rounded elegant architecture, geometric patterns and earthy colour tones translated onto fluid silhouettes. Last year, their couture line was inspired by the Islamic architecture of Istanbul, so this time the brothers seem to be working in a similar vein except for a few new additions of embellishments and cuts. Their main focus? Sheesh mahals, where light plays off the mirrored stones and curves of the structures. Shantanu & Nikhil have used Swarovski crystals and laser cuts to recreate the dazzling reflective patterns on their gowns and lehengas.
