Nick Jonas has finally spoken up about his engagement with Priyanka Chopra. According to US Weekly, Nick was at an event to launch his own perfume when a fan congratulated him on his engagement, to which he graciously responded, “Thanks, man.” This is the first time either of them have confirmed it after director Ali Abbas Zafar broke the news about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding through a tweet.

The couple will allegedly be tying the knot on Nick’s 26th birthday on September 16. The singer also spoke to US Weekly about having a family soon: “[Having a family of my own] is the goal. It’s definitely something that I hope will happen. I am not sure of the exact timeline. But, I need to give my nieces cousins at some point,” he said.

“The best part about being an uncle is that it’s like training wheels. You get to spend time with these young people and have some responsibility, which is nice,” he added.

Meanwhile, Priyanka took to Instagram to show her support for Nick’s perfume launch:

On the work front, Priyanka has walked out of the upcoming film Bharat, and while media reports speculated that it could be because she has bagged a bigger Hollywood film, Ali’s tweet indicates that she’s taking time off to marry rumoured beau Nick.

According to People, the couple got engaged on Priyanka’s 36th birthday that they celebrated in London. Last month, Nick allegedly shut down a Tiffany & Co. store in New York City to pick a diamond engagement ring for his lady love. “They are so happy,” the source said.

E! had previously reported that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who were first spotted dating at the end of May, could be putting a ring on it by the end of the year. Chopra and Jonas “are infatuated with each other [two months into dating,]” a source told the outlet. “Everyone around them thinks that they will be engaged within six months to a year.”

E! also reported that the two are already living together, and Jonas may be about to move into Chopra’s place permanently. “Nick has basically been living in Priyanka’s New York City apartment with her, and they spend a lot of time together,” a source told E! then. “The next step is him permanently moving in, and it has been a discussion.”

4 stupid stereotypes Priyanka and Nick are shattering:

1. Don't date a man who is shorter than you

Priyanka is taller than Nick for starters, and she still wears heels. Let's just say that height is a taboo that needs to be struck off our books, stat. Take a look at celebrity couple Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja — the Bollywood star is taller than her businessman husband, but that hasn't interfered with their relationship at all.

2. Don't date a man who's younger than you

Society thinks it's perfectly fine, even normal, for there to be huge age differences between partners – just as long as the man is older. It's completely normal for Bollywood actors to be seen courting women two decades younger than them onscreen (not to mention off it). But women who date younger men get saddled with unfortunate nicknames and raised eyebrows. Priyanka is not here for these double standards, and has zero interest in what you think of the 10-year age gap between her and Nick. That's commendable, especially when every move you make is going to be documented and dissected by 7.6 billion people. Take it from the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who's three years older than her new husband, Prince Harry.

3. The man should be the breadwinner in the relationship

Let's make it clear, Priyanka was never going to sit back and let a man pay for her. What's cooler here is that, by all accounts, she's more famous, makes more money and is more influential than her date. Just looking at their social media, the Quantico actor has over 59 million followers hanging on to her every word and following her fashion choices, while the singer-songwriter's clout stands at a powerful but smaller 25.2 million. Kudos to Nick for not being threatened by a woman who is more successful than him.

4. Don't date a man from a different culture

She's 100% desi. He's American, born and bred. But does that matter? Not really. In fact, it's an opportunity to learn more about each other's culture and traditions, and soaking in the best of both worlds. Nick even commented on one of Priyanka's Instagram posts with a cheesy but 100% accurate "Mujhse shaadi karogi?" Another great example? American actress Meghan Markle, who's a member of the British Royal Family now. Here's to successful and long-lasting relationships.
