Turns out we won’t be seeing Priyanka Chopra on ABC’s Scandal opposite mutual admirer Kerry Washington after all. Rumours were rife after the Mary Kom star inked a one-year talent deal with the American network in December but it’s now confirmed that she will appear in a brand new show executive produced by Mark Gordon, Joshua Safran and Nick Pepper.
Quantico is an hour-long drama about a group of young FBI recruits who’ve enlisted for various reasons, not all honourable (one will turn out to be a sleeper terrorist responsible for the most heinous attack on the US since 9/11) fighting their way through training at the Quantico base in Virginia.
Chopra, who is steadily making her way down a checklist of entertainment jobs (beauty queen, movie star, pop singer, now TV sensation) will play ingenious but troubled (not to mention, smokin’) trainee Alex Weaver, whose past returns to haunt her almost as soon as she gets to the base. What we heard? NO TOKEN SOUTH ASIAN CHARACTER! Huzzah!
