Priyanka Chopra grew up not seeing girls like her on mainstream TV and wanting to change that. Needless to say, that is exactly what the actress did. Chopra admits she had a tough time growing up because of the colour of her skin but at some point, she realised she needed to stop comparing herself and just be happy with herself. Self-love isn’t just good for your mental state, it’s bound to reflect on you physically as well.
In PC’s latest interview, the actress talks plainly about how she deals with her weight gain. “After Christmas and Diwali, I always put on weight,” she admits. We’ve all been there, the post-holiday weight will make you obsess over extra kilos and give your self-esteem a solid beat down. “But I’m not going to look at Katrina Kaif’s abs and say, ‘Oh my God I’m not pretty because Katrina Kaif has abs’. I’m like ‘damn girl, how do you have those abs?'” We think the excellent point Priyanka Chopra is trying to make is to stop constantly comparing yourself to other women and in fact, appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into looking like the best version of yourself.
Priyanka’s advice is to get healthy first, and weight loss will surely follow. That is, if that’s what you want. We’re feeling this self-love vibe that Priyanka seems to be giving off. It’s great to know that just like the rest of us, celebrities gain weight over the holidays and need motivation to whip their butts back into shape. Think about that the next time you see Katrina Kaif’s abs onscreen.
