While your good week might include getting a surprise order of free fries with your milkshake, Priyanka Chopra’s is nowhere near as basic. The Bollywood actor/pop star/talk show pro was just appointed as UNICEF’s Global Goodwill ambassador.
The Quantico actress was inducted into her new role by David Beckham and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown at the celebration of the organisation’s completion of 70 years.
“My wish for children is freedom. The freedom to think, the freedom to live,” said Chopra at the event. She has also been involved with UNICEF’s work in India for over 10 years now, “Along this decade old journey, with UNICEF, I have been on many field trips to villages and centres across India. On those trips, I spent time with numerous young girls and their families and experienced firsthand the transformative power of empowering young girls with opportunities that are rightfully theirs. Together, with my fellow, dedicated ambassadors, I am now proud to stand with UNICEF to help build a world where children’s rights are respected and protected,” she said.
UNICEF’s executive director commented on Priyanka’s new role saying, “Priyanka Chopra is already a champion for India’s children — and as a UNICEF global Goodwill Ambassador, she will be a force for children and adolescents everywhere.”
Makes you wonder if there’s a superhero costume hidden under that Prabal Gurung number, yeah?
