From the last couple of months, Alia Bhatt has been busy promoting her upcoming movie, Raazi, and today, the actor took to social media to release a song from the movie, Dilbaro. The tear-jerker is about Alia’s character Sehmat’s bidai, and even with the most sombre expression on her face, she is the epitome of a young, newly-married Kashmiri beauty.
Alia also shared a sentimental message about the song on Twitter:
#Dilbaro is a song that made me tear up the first time I heard it.. the lyrics are simple, powerful and just beautiful. Written by the maestro Gulzar Saab. I couldn’t help but think of my father who’s held my hand but also let my fly.. my most special friendship! Love you papa

This is the first time that Alia is working with her mother, Soni Razdan, as her on-screen mother. Based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, the movie is a thriller that sees Alia play the role of an Indian spy married to a Pakistani military officer, played by Vicky Kaushal, during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is all set to release on May 11.
