Gap recently opened doors to Indian shoppers, launching four stores across Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore in 2015. The new year sees the global fashion franchise extend its roots to Mumbai – with the launch of two new stores at Oberoi Mall, Goregaon, and Infiniti Mall, Malad. They’re spread across 6,000 sq ft and 8,000 sq ft respectively and feature the latest S/S 2016 collection.
The event was supersized, much like a Bollywood production, with Ranveer Singh performing to cheering crowds and trigger-happy photographers. Hysteric girls and teens gathered to see the young actor dance alongside dhol players and dancers. “I have been a huge fan of Gap since I was a kid and its amazing to be a part of this launch,” said Singh. “Seasons may change, but our wardrobes will always feature certain staples like tees, denims, hoodies and jackets, which Gap is synonymous with. Mumbai is known to be fashion forward and it’s exciting to see one of the biggest and most renowned fashion brands in the world finally making their foray into our beloved mega city.” We’re glad too. But take a second to look at that crazy crowd will you? We’re just surprised the mall didn’t shut down.
