Sabyasachi to kick off Couture Week

Sabyasachi Mukherjee has his hands full these days. He recently opened his stunning Mumbai store, is planning his flagship in Kolkata and was just announced as the opening designer for India Couture Week. All in a day’s work for this designer.

“He [Mukherjee] is undoubtedly one of the best couturiers in the country, which makes him an apt choice for the opening show. His astute understanding of what a modern bride and groom want gives him an undeniable edge,” said Sunil Sethi, president, Fashion Design Council of India, on the decision.

The bridal wear favourite will be presenting his usual range of handcrafted designs, which marry old-world charm and exquisite silhouettes, and prove, year after year, why couture is the most exalted form of fashion. After last season’s stunning collection, which included embroidery, mirror work, sequins and myriad techniques on each garment, we can’t wait to see what’s in store this time around. The six-day fashion fest continues with Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Manish Malhotra, Gaurav Gupta, Anju Modi, Manish Arora, Rina Dhaka, Monisha Jaising and Rohit Bal.
