Sanjay Garg’s eponymous line is achingly beautiful. (You remember his show at Lakmé Fashion Week?) It makes its retail debut today at Mumbai’s Bungalow 8. It’s one reason we’ll be looking forward to attending weddings this season. The edit at Bungalow 8 is for us to try on pieces for size, and get them custom made. “In India sizes are a big problem,” Garg notes, so he’ll be looking to tailor each piece to your requirement.
Garg chose to debut with Bungalow 8 “for an element of surprise”. He was aware that the store didn’t have a festive Indian line. And since his own line was the perfect cross between traditional and contemporary, it made perfect sense. Expect them to break out all the jewel tones, the muddy golds, and the motifs we loved from his show – we’ll be seeking out the shikargaha, which captures a hunt or a “jungle theme” as Garg puts it.
