Shoe galleries and spectacular window displays aside, Selfridges has given us yet another reason to visit – an in-house cinema! The hallowed London institution has tied up with Everyman Cinemas to open what is a department store first – a 60-seater, 3,500 sq ft space (located within the Ultralounge) to screen new releases as well as classic favourites like Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Clueless and Roman Holiday. It will also be the first cinema to screen Woody Allen’s Magic In The Moonlight, releasing September 18.
Over the past nine years, the Ultralounge has played host to a Banksy exhibit, a Vivienne Westwood shoe retrospective and a 3D musical experience by Brian Eno. And now, it can be your go-to for date nights. Sit back on plush leather seats as you sip champagne, Prosecco, hot chocolate or wine, with fresh popcorn, marshmallows and cookie bites. For all those planning a trip to London, put this on your to-do list. We guarantee it won’t be your average movie night.
