How to nail the athleisure trend like Deepika Padukone
What to wear and what to avoid, according to celebrity stylist Shaleena Nathani
“Given my job, I do like looking nice, even when I go for a run,” says celebrity stylist and running enthusiast, Shaleena Nathani. A member of Nike+ Run Club, the stylist claims that she has always been athletic but now that she has taken up running as a full-time work out regime, her wardrobe also reflects this. “I love athleisure as a trend. I think it’s amazing and I hope it’s here to stay,” she says, adding that she tries to incorporate it into her daily wardrobe as much as she can. “It just adds a cool factor to everything you wear.”
While athleisure is a God-sent gift for people who love their fashion to be comfortable but chic, Shaleena has a few words of caution. “Stick to one or two elements and you’re good. If you go overboard, then the simplicity of the trend gets lost,” she says.

Sneakers, all day everyday
One of the key elements of athleisure, sneakers need to be a staple in your wardrobe, “I think you can wear a pair of white sneakers with anything. I’ve seen people at weddings wearing a heavy gown paired with sneakers. I was quite shocked to see it, but I think it’s amazing,” says Shaleena.
Make your sports bra the focus of your look
“If you’re stepping out at night, then you can just put on a cool sports bra with an amazing pair of jeans and heels,” says Shaleena. Throw on a long, lightweight jacket, or if you have Shaleena’s ripped frame, a mesh top.
A good bomber jacket can cure all sorrows
If you can’t think of anything that would spruce up your usual uniform of tee and jeans, then allow the bomber jacket to be the solution to your woes, says Shaleena. So the next time you’re confused, throw one over a cute crop top and you’re good to go.
