Imagine elite teens dancing in couture gowns till wee hours in the night and you’ll get a fair picture of Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris. What’s more? The setting is no less than a frame from Crazy Rich Asians. This time the invitees at the high-society event, which raises funds for Enfants d’Asie and The Selini Institute, included Shanaya Kapoor.

On the day of the event, Shanaya wore a tiered scarlet gown from the famed label Lecoanet Hemant. The gown brings to mind a traditional Flamenco outfit, and invokes the same kind of opulence the event stands for. Her ensemble features a fitted bodice along with a net neckline. Shanaya paired her outfit with jewellery from Harakh and made her debut with her cavalier, Maximilian Hindmarch.

Shanaya’s mother, Maheep Kapoor, announced the news via Instagram with a frame of a proud Sanjay Kapoor along with his darling daughter.
The most heartening pictures from the event were certainly the ones that showed the 20-year-old sharing a dance with her dad at the glitzy event, which has previously seen in attendance Ananya Panday, Isha Ambani and Instagram’s favourite Indian royal, Maharaja Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur.
So, who’s going to be the next debutante from India? We will have to wait and watch.
