You might remember Shikha Talsania as the girl you wanted as your BFF when you met her in Wake Up Sid. (Or even from our feature back in February.)
We’ve just heard that the ballsy AF actor has been roped in for Rhea Kapoor’s next, Veere Di Wedding, starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar, and we couldn’t be more excited. Here’s why we love her:
She’s worked on and off screen too
Her IMDb credits include Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children, Kalki Koechlin-starrer My Friend Pinto and the recent, festival-touring indie, Kaash. But she’s worked behind-the-scenes too – as line producer and celebrity manager. She’s even handled post-production for TV shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Indian Idol 3.
She really shines on stage
When Talsania isn’t flexing her acting chops before the camera, you’ll find her on the stage. Her recent projects include Adhir Bhat and Bobby Nagra’s dramedy Some Times. AKvarious’s unconventional rom-com Internal Affairs; Bayan, feat. five vignettes, all performed by women, and Hindi Medium, a showcase of new writing and performances in Hindi.
She doesn’t care for stereotypes
“Yeahhh… I don’t want to be the fat girl who licks her lips when she’s hungry or horny. I don’t want to be the girl on the treadmill, who collapses and then a thin girl gives her a tonic, saying, ‘Try this’. And then she becomes thin too,” she said to The Times Of India.
She’s comfortable in her skin
“When I started acting, my vanity blossomed and I understood my body better. I am what I am and I’m fine with it.”
She’s even got Sonam Kapoor gushing about her
