5 bridal ideas we spotted on the celebrity showstoppers at Lakme Fashion Week

From Kriti Sanon to Aditi Rao Hydari

If you’re looking for ways to update your wedding wardrobe, you’re in luck, because showstoppers like Vaani Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari are showing you fresh new styles, straight off the Lakme Fashion Week ramp. Five days at the country’s most-watched fashion event gave us five trends to take away. While Vaani Kapoor and Malaika Arora Khan made the cape fashionable again, Nargis Fakhri and Esha Gupta made a pitch for celebrating cleavage in low-cut blouses.

Disha Patani revived the corset; while Aditi Rao Hydari and Vaani Kapoor recommended skipping the diamonds and bright yellow gold for vintage accessories. Take a look for yourself:

5 bridal trends inspired by these celebrity showstoppers:

Swap your dupatta for a cape

A gorgeous trail billowing behind you as you enter the room... who wouldn't want to feel like Superwoman? As we saw on Vaani Kapoor for SVA, swapping out the dupatta for a delicately embroidered cape also frees up your arms and makes moving around far easier. Designer Ridhi Mehra also gave her showstopper, Malaika Arora Khan, a power move that amped up her sheer jumpsuit.

Cleavage is the new black

After an entire season of cold shoulders, the focus of attention has once again returned to the cleavage. Blouses across Anushree Reddy and Amit Aggarwal were low-cut with revealing necklines, providing the perfect foil for your precious jewellery. Nargis Fakhri slayed her lehenga-choli with this trend, while Esha Gupta looked stunning in her skirt and blouse set.

The corset is back

This season of fashion week was a lesson in How To Wear a Corset 101. As seen on Disha Patani at Ritu Kumar, the corset dress is reviving the traditional hourglass shape. Or you could take a cue from Masaba Gupta's show and wear it in place of a cummerbund. Just ensure it's not so tight that you're left breathless.

Throwback with vintage Accessories

At the Sva showcase, Vaani Kapoor avoided the usual diamonds and gold route, choosing an oxidised waist belt reminiscent of Rajasthani tribal jewellery. At Jayanti Reddy, Aditi Rao Hydari followed suit in a statement choker by Sunita Shekhawat in dull gold.

Go XL

While the '90s choker has been ruling jewellery trends for the past few seasons, labels like Arpita Mehta and AMOH by Jade prefer to layer up with extra long necklaces. Check out their showstoppers Kriti Sanon and Ananya Birla for inspiration.
